About Me

My name is Andrew Michael Gaffney. I was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, moved to Missouri when I was 2, and I now live in Santa Clara, CA. On May 8, 2004, I married my lovely wife Angie, who I met in high school in Wentzville, MO.

Professionally, I am a Linux sysadmin. My current title is Senior System Administrator. Along with a small team, I run 220+ servers at an internet marketing company. We are constantly putting out fires and starting new ones of our own, and that's the way I like it.

I do some open source work in my spare time. I've been a developer with Gentoo Linux since November 2004. I originally joined the project to work on the now defunct Gentoo Linux Installer. After that, I moved on to development on the Catalyst and Genkernel tools, which are used for building Gentoo releases. I also wrote Quickstart, is an automated installer written in POSIX sh (targetting busybox ash), which is configured and functions a lot like Kickstart.
